Pedigree Highlights

Coconut traces back to several of the founding bloodlines that established the KuneKune breed in the United States after the pigs were rescued from near-extinction in New Zealand during the 1970s, when only around fifty individuals remained. His sire line runs through the Whakanui bloodline (RAF Whakanui 2 "Walter," out of Zion's Gate Whakanui 2 "Alton"), one of eleven original boar lines imported from New Zealand in 2010 and now considered part of the genetic backbone of American KuneKune herds. His dam, Crazy 5 Farms Haunene 1 "Israel," descends from the Haunene sow line, also imported from New Zealand in 2010 and valued for strong maternal traits.

Further back in the pedigree, the Piney Creek Farm Boris line appears on the dam's side, connecting to Boris, one of the very first KuneKune bloodlines brought to the U.S. from New Zealand in 1995, while the BH Tutaki bloodline (imported from England in 2011) shows up twice in the tree, linking both sides of the dam's ancestry. Altogether, this pedigree combines four of the breed's eleven foundational boar lines — Whakanui, Boris, and BH Tutaki — along with the Haunene sow line, giving Coconut a diverse genetic base that reflects the careful, registry-tracked breeding (AKKPS) that has helped the KuneKune breed recover and thrive since its rescue decades ago.

What makes his pedigree even more special is a touch of rare, purebred British bloodline, tracing back to one of only four documented KuneKune imports from the UK into the United States, brought over in 2012 from Barton Hill Farm in England. Today, only a small number of American breeders maintain these original British bloodlines, making them a valued piece of genetic history within the breed.
